‘Lights, camera, deception!’ The big-budget Disney film Johnny Kapahala in production in West Auckland in 2007. The movie, about a US snowboarding champ who returns to his home in Hawaii, was shot in Auckland instead of Hawaii to save costs. Overseas films made in New Zealand are known as ‘runaways’.
