The new bar at the Australasian Tavern in Greymouth, opened in 2007, is made of rimu that was recovered from the bottom of Lake Moana (Brunner).
As the logging of native timber has been phased out, the value of local native wood has increased. This made it economic to retrieve from the lake logs that had tipped off a barge taking them to a sawmill many decades earlier.
