Wool absorbent for oil spills

Wool absorbent for oil spills

Researchers in New Zealand have been looking at new uses for crossbred wool, other than the traditional products of fabrics and carpets. Woolspill and Ecosol products remove oil from water, using wool’s natural ability to repel water by aggressively attracting and holding grease and oil. The products are light and easy to transport; they are biodegradable and highly efficient at absorbing oil spills.
