Staff from Montana Wines fill 200-litre drums with Wohnsiedler Müller-Thurgau wine, ready for export to Denmark, in 1986. New Zealand growers had bumper vintages in the 1980s, leading to a wine glut. Some large growers managed to export surplus wine, but a number of small wineries failed to find a market for their product and went out of business.
