Although the clover root weevil is also found in Europe and North America, it is a much more serious pest in New Zealand because the populations are about 10 times as high as elsewhere. The creamy white larvae live in the soil beneath clover plants and are about 1–6 millimetres long. The adult weevils are brown and about 4–6mm long, and look like other weevils present in pasture.
