Hemp

The hemp (Cannabis sativa) leaf is easily recognised by its distinctive shape. This plant was grown in Canterbury as part of a trial plantation. From 2001 the government allowed trial plantings of industrial hemp, and from 2006 it could be cultivated under licence. Only specified low-narcotic varieties were allowed.
