Walking the Tongariro Crossing

Walking the Tongariro Crossing

The Tongariro Crossing, which passes over spectacular volcanic terrain, is one of the major walks in Tongariro National Park. These two trampers are looking towards the Ōtūrere valley, with the Kaimanawa Mountains in the distance. Most trampers tackle the walk in summer, when it takes approximately eight hours.
