Cheeseman Herbarium

Thomas Cheeseman was the botanist and sole curator at the Auckland Museum for almost 50 years (1874–1923). He described more than 150 plant species, and his widely read Manual of the New Zealand flora was published in 1906. Cheeseman left his herbarium and related papers to the Auckland Museum. Of 14,400 specimens in the herbarium in 2006, almost 7,000 were collected by Cheeseman. Here, a group from the South Pacific College of Natural Therapies are being shown part of the collection.
