Forest interior

Kauri forest is complex and contains various other species, including smaller conifers and broadleaved trees, lianes (vines) and perching epiphytic plants, tree ferns, nīkau palms and orchids. Ground cover can include kiekie and kauri grass (a native lily, bottom right).
