Bank of Auckland £1 note (2 o 4)

Bank of Auckland £1 note

Banks issued their own bank notes until the Reserve Bank of New Zealand was established in 1934. The Bank of Auckland operated for three years in the 1860s. This is a £1 note from 1865. The bank collapsed in 1867 – a run on its funds was averted only when the other trading banks guaranteed its liabilities.
