Two men begin a bout of Cornish wrestling at the New Year's Caledonian Games in Dunedin. The distinctive mark of Cornish wrestling was that the wrestlers each wore a heavy jacket which their opponent gripped in attempting to throw them onto their back. The style was also practised in Devon. New Zealand attracted considerable numbers of migrants from Devon and Cornwall in the 19th century, and this form of wrestling came with them.
