Taranaki oil and gas fields, 2006

Taranaki is New Zealand’s hydrocarbon province. It is the only area where oil and gas have been found in sufficient quantities to be economically mined. Just a few of the fields dominate known reserves: Māui, Kāpuni and Pohokura. All of the oilfields are small.
