Timaru has the distinction of being the home town of three of the most prominent sporting heroes of New Zealand before the Second World War: boxer Bob Fitzsimmons, racehorse Phar Lap and Olympic gold medal winning runner Jack Lovelock. There are memorials to all three in Timaru and this Roadside Story tells of their achievements and shows the monuments.
Roadside Stories is a series of audio guides to places around New Zealand.
