Voting options for the 1992 referendum on electoral systems

  • First-past-the-post

  • Supplementary member (SM) (one-vote method)

  • Single transferable vote (STV)

  • Mixed-member proportional (MMP) (two-vote method)

  • Preferential voting system (PV)

In the 1992 indicative referendum on electoral systems, people had two votes. The first vote indicated whether or not the voter wished to change the existing first-past-the-post electoral system. The second vote allowed them to indicate which of four proposed electoral systems they would prefer to be adopted if the system was changed.

your numbers in the SV example 55% + 40% + 10 % add up to 105% of the vote! Which is confusing. But all the examples are very nice and clear, despite that!
