In the 1992 indicative referendum on electoral systems, people had two votes. The first vote indicated whether or not the voter wished to change the existing first-past-the-post (FPP) electoral system. The second vote allowed them to indicate which one of four proposed electoral systems they would prefer to be adopted if the system was changed.
