The East Coast consists of the rugged main ranges that border the Bay of Plenty, a large area of broken hill country, and river flats – the largest of which are in Poverty Bay, with smaller ones at Tolaga Bay, Tokomaru Bay, the lower Waiapu River and Te Araroa.
