Through this relatively short period (five years), change occurred in the kinds of banking transactions used most often. There was a continuing rise in the volume of EFTPOS (electronic funds transfer at point of sale) transactions relative to all other kinds. ATM transactions, which at one time were more common than EFTPOS transactions, started to decline, as EFTPOS terminals became more and more common.
