Home: a colonial’s adventure

Alan Mulgan’s book was first published in 1927, a time when many New Zealanders still referred to England as home. Their attachment was not merely nostalgic or sentimental, it was also economic. Exports and imports readily reflected this – New Zealand was Britain’s farm in the south and Britain was New Zealand’s factory in the north.
