This tourist postcard from 1910 shows Victoria Bridge in a very English-looking Christchurch. However the photograph is surrounded by words and an image which present New Zealand as 'Maoriland'. This was an important identity for New Zealand at that time and expressed an acceptance of Māori as racial partners of the largely British settler population.
