The Boys' Brigade was one of the more devout youth organisations of the 20th century, with close links to the Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. In terms of membership, the brigade has never been as popular as Scouts. Its heyday was the 1950s and the 1960s – in the mid-1960s its membership was 12,000.
