A coalition of groups opposed to abortion took part in the 2010 March for Life. The event was prompted by the Family Planning Association’s application to the Abortion Supervisory Committee for a licence to use mifepristone (sometimes known as the ‘abortion pill’) at its Hamilton clinic. About 300 people took part in Christchurch, including Catholic, Anglican and Baptist clergy, and students from the city’s Catholic secondary schools.
