Kōrero: The voyage out

The New Zealand Shipping Company

The New Zealand Shipping Company

The New Zealand Shipping Company was founded in Christchurch late in 1872 and soon became one of the main shipping lines bringing out migrants. This 1910 poster is advertising passages to New Zealand on a fleet of large modern ships. They rounded the Cape of Good Hope on the way out, and went round Cape Horn on the return voyage.
