Kōrero: Prisoner support and advocacy

This flyer setting out the key arguments for an end to capital punishment was produced for a public meeting of the National Committee for Abolition of Capital Punishment, on 26 March 1956. It states that the penalty of hanging does not stop murders, that innocent people are sometimes executed, and that other countries have moved to abolish capital punishment. One of the founders of the committee, long-term political activist Lettie Allen, drew attention to the cause in 1957 when she applied to witness an execution.
