Posters such as this were often displayed at agricultural and pastoral (A & P) shows from 1947 to 1949 by the Aid for Britain National Council. Following the Second World War Britain committed itself to buying all of New Zealand’s exportable surplus of butter, cheese and meat. But this arrangement did not last − by the late 1950s New Zealand was faced with the problem of growing production and a shrinking market.
