
In 1876, Parliament set up a select committee to inquire into the rabbit nuisance. This is an excerpt from the evidence given to the committee by William Beetham, who owned land in the Wairarapa. The committee recommended the introduction of a bill to compel land occupiers to keep rabbits in check.
