In early 1972 the New Zealand women's team had a very successful tour of Australia and South Africa. It defeated Australia in Melbourne in February, becoming the first New Zealand national cricket team ever to beat Australia in a test. It was also the first four-day women's test. The following month in Durban, the New Zealand women defeated South Africa in the second of three tests by 188 runs. That same year the men's team played five test matches against the West Indies and drew them all. The cartoon comments on the men's and women's teams relative success.
