MPs' pay

MPs' pay

The remuneration or pay received by members of Parliament (MPs) is determined by the independent Remuneration Authority. Nevertheless, the pay of MPs is a perennially controversial issue. This 2008 cartoon by James Hubbard questions the independence of the Remuneration Authority, which is depicted as an organisation in cahoots with MPs rather than existing at arm's length from them.
