Frances Hodgkins sketched herself with her much taller and thinner sister, Isabel, about 1893. Isabel commented in a letter that 'poor Fan' had decided she was too fat and resolved to 'bant' (go on a diet). She added, 'It is rather absurd one sister trying all she can to get stout & the other trying to get thin'.
