Kōrero: Holidays

Waiwera, 48 kilometres north of Auckland, was developed as a thermal spa from 1848 by entrepreneur Robert Graham. In 1875 he built a comfortable hotel there, and Waiwera became a popular holiday destination for Aucklanders. As well as bathing in the thermal springs, they could enjoy the sea views.
