Maketū

The township of Maketū lies 40 kilometres east of Tauranga. Maketū pies, advertised on a building at this junction, are famous in the Bay of Plenty. Based on a family recipe, they were originally made and sold locally by Nancy Roberts. Now her son runs the business, and the pies are available around the country.
