Kōrero: Comics and graphic novels

The Tee Wees' adventures, Auckland Star, 1931

Most of the comics published in New Zealand newspapers in the 1930s were syndicated American strips, but some local content made it onto newsprint. D. Price's The Tee Wees' adventures was published in the Auckland Star's 'Star Twinkles' children's comic pages in 1931 and 1932. The Tee Wees were a band of small, fairy-like forest creatures whose peaceful lives were often disrupted by a troublesome Tiki. Use the slider to zoom in and read the comic.
