This chart, published by the British Admiralty in 1840, combines the mapping work of three early expeditions to New Zealand. Doubtful Harbour (top left) was charted by Felipe Bauza during Alessandro Malaspina’s voyage of 1793. Anchor Island Harbour (top right), Facile Harbour (bottom left) and Pickersgill Harbour (bottom right) are all in Dusky Bay. While the text on this chart states that these last three were all created during George Vancouver’s 1791 visit, Pickersgill Harbour was actually charted during Cook’s second voyage of 1773.
