In this series of interviews, Māori people of different generations reflect on the strength they find from their takatāpui identity. As one interviewee says: ‘Being Māori and strong and proud in that, and also being comfortable and strong in my queer identity - takatāpui unified the two’.
Several takatāpui kapa haka groups have been set up around the country. They include Tīwhanawhana in Wellington and Ahakoa Te Aha in Auckland.
