The saga of Te Hau-ki-Tūranga wharenui

In this clip from the 2011 television series Whare Māori, Māori architectural designer Rau Hoskins looks at the troubled history and cultural, artistic and architectural significance of Te Hau-ki-Tūranga wharenui, carved by Raharuhi Rukupō of Rongowhakaata and others working under his instruction. The panels portrayed on New Zealand’s $10 and $20 notes are based on those in Te Hau-ki-Tūranga.
