Founded in 1990 by Phil Dadson, Interdigitate was a leading exhibition of new media and performance art in the 1990s and 2000s. As this clip of three performances from the 1998 festival shows, the work often combined both experimental film and performance. The artists shown here are the unusual New Zealand musician and performer, Brent Hayward, who muses on the 'schizophrenic breakdown of the millennium'; Steina Vasulka, an internationally known artist originally from Iceland, who triggers video images through her violin: and Sean Kerr, a Wellingtonian who mixes video with dance.
