The recognition by successive governments of the importance of cultural activities to the nation's identity was reflected by the significant role given to the arts in New Zealand displays at international expos. Here, Prime Minister Jim Bolger visits an exhibition of New Zealand art and hears opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa perform at the 1992 Expo at Seville, Spain.
