Kōrero: Weekends

Weekend tramping, 1951

Video file

This film clip shows members of the Tararua Tramping Club carrying materials into the bush for constructing a hut. Most New Zealanders had a two-day weekend from 1945. This gave more people the chance to get out into the country's wild places.
