Live music was an integral part of the nightclub scene, and many clubs had a house band, which played several nights a week. Tudor Towers, a Rotorua club in the city's historic bathhouse, was unusual – in the 1980s it was owned by its house band, Kairo (shown here in 1986). Kairo started after a jam session in Cleopatra, a flash Auckland club, before moving south to Rotorua and Tudor Towers.
