Kōrero: Care and carers

The New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society (now CCS Disability Action) was established in 1935 to help children who had been disabled in polio epidemics. While it provided some residential homes, its focus was on helping children to live full lives in the community. As this clip from a 1948 documentary shows, that included providing transport so children and their parents could access treatment and rehabilitation services.
