Putting children first

While mother-only care used to be seen as best for children when their parents separated, by the 2000s both parents sharing care of the children was preferred. Parents Helen and Anthony, shown in this television news clip from 2008, decided to put the needs of their daughter first when they separated. Jan Pryor of the Families Commission (now called Superu) discusses research that suggests separated parents who put aside their own issues and refrained from arguing in front of children had the best custody arrangements.
