Kōrero: Workforce composition

This 1954 National Film Unit clip shows wringer washing machines being assembled in a New Zealand factory. The demand for washing machines soared after the Second World War. By 1953, 11,000 workers were employed making and assembling them. By the early 2000s this work was more likely to be carried out in other countries where wages were lower.
