Crips gang

Video file

American-style youth gangs sprang up in Auckland in 1990s. Most were engaged in crime: mainly burglaries and drugs, but sometimes serious assault. Gangs were distinguished by the colour of their clothes, and many were ethnically based. The clip from a 2008 documentary highlights the bravado of the Tongan-based Crips gang.
