Kōrero: Farm mechanisation

Moving an electric fence

Video file

This film shows a farmer moving one of the earliest electric fences, in 1949. The advent of the electric fence made it possible to graze stock more efficiently – the fence uprights could be moved around easily, so it was possible to contain animals in part of a paddock while grass regenerated in the remainder.
