Preparing tamarillos for export

Video file

Tamarillos are egg-shaped fruit, dark red or gold in colour. Although they are of South American origin, New Zealand is the major grower. The industry expanded after the Second World War. This 1969 film shows people harvesting and packing the fruit on a Kerikeri orchard.
