Kōrero: Auckland region

Auckland’s Bro’Town

Bro’Town was New Zealand’s first primetime animated television show. It featured the misadventures of five Polynesian teenagers – Vale, Valea, Sione, Mack and Jeff da Maori – who lived in the Auckland suburb of Morningside. Its Auckland creators called it ‘proudly suburban’ and ‘non-PC’ (politically correct). The show was hugely popular with audiences, although some critics accused it of promoting racial stereotypes. In this clip the friends reunite after Vaela and Vale have been released from a period in foster care.
