An essential part of a farm fence is the wire. In New Zealand, No. 8 wire was used extensively. It came to represent Kiwi ingenuity, as a material that could be used to repair almost anything. This video explains how a coil of No. 8 wire with a diameter of 2.5 millimetres is made by stretching or ‘drawing’ a steel rod.
