Akaroa Salmon

In the 1980s Tom and Duncan Bates set up their salmon farming operation, Akaroa Salmon, in Akaroa Harbour. This produces about 150 tonnes of fish for the domestic market each year. Akaroa Salmon has a retail outlet at its Christchurch factory.
