This interactive chart shows the top five causes of avoidable deaths (where effective prevention or treatment is available) among Pacific Island people from 2004 to 2008, by age and sex. Lack of access to prevention, effective treatment and health-care technology had a major effect on death rates among Pacific girls and women.
