The Listener

Monte Holcroft was editor of the Listener from 1949 to 1967, with another stint as acting editor in 1972 and 1973. In this radio interview from 1973 Holcroft describes how discovering new literary talent was one of the most rewarding aspects of his job at the magazine.

This cover from 30 March 1961 depicts a still from the forthcoming 26-part television series Victory at sea, about Allied naval operations in the Second World War – and a warning to drive safely during the Easter break.
