Rutherford's Göttingen lecture, 1931, and Centennial Medal, 1971

Listen to part of a lecture on gamma rays and atomic structure given by Ernest Rutherford at Göttingen University, Germany, on 14 December 1931. The medal shown was issued by the Royal Society of New Zealand in 1971 to mark the centennial of Rutherford's birth. The reverse depicts a stylised diagram of an atom's structure. At the nucleus is the coat of arms of the Royal Society of London, surrounded by the coats of arms of the universities where Rutherford carried out his research.
